COMPANY IN SOUTH DAKOTA SEEKS A PRECISION FARMING ADVISOR/AGRONOMIST ASAP!!

This individual is responsible for field and customer support activities as well as conducting internal employee training and support activities all related to the precision farming activities. They will also coordinate activities and cooperate with other departments of the dealership to best serve the needs of the customer and employees.


Specific Duties Include:
  • Serve as subject matter expert in terms of precision farming practices in North America; this includes the record keeping and analysis of corresponding research and data.
  • Facilitate field and customer support activities; as well as internal employee training. Activities include, but are not limited to: map-based seeding, fertilization, prescription and zone preparation, implementing crop identity systems, uploading and manipulating office record keeping systems including APEX and other industry systems; analyzing and integrating soils maps, aerial imagery, yield maps and other GIS/electronic data sources; field service and scouting as required.
  • Develop programs to increase use of AMS products, profitability and environmental stewardship efforts of.
  • Monitor competitor products, capabilities and pricing to retain competitiveness.
  • Provide materials/testimonials to support advertising plans.
  • Organize customer demonstration and training activities to support AMS sales
  • Guide and develop  variable rate seeding and prescription product application division.
  • Establish policy and procedure as it relates to variable rate farming methods.
  • Work with  customers on water management/drainage opportunities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Agronomy or Crop Science
  • 5 years working experience in related precision farming activities; field agronomy experience is required
  • Proficient in precision farming practices utilized in specific geographic locations
  • Competent in all John Deere AMS products and competitive GPS-related products and manufacturers
  • Must have a CCA license or the ability to obtain one
  • Strong agronomy/agriculture economics background
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving ability
  • Experience facilitating training in both large and small group environments
  • Detail-oriented with a structured approach to planning and organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet short/changing deadlines
  • Innovative, entrepreneurial and goal-oriented
  • Must be easily accessible to customers on a 24/7 basis during peak use season
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills to include spreadsheet and database management; data compression
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
