Comment by Harold F Reetz on June 14, 2010 at 2:57pm I Just wanna know can there be a technology for automation of farm activities which will be computer programmed. Which will make the machines to carry tillage, weeding or spraying of plant protection/nutrition chemicals etc...which can monitor all the farm related activities.
Need for such technology is of immense importance in INDIA where there is labour shortage issues coupled with small farm holdings.
Can anyone answer to this issue?
Yes, we use technology like this in Russia.
It's based from two parts: hardware and software. So hardware - it's some GPS\GSM terminal that have connections for external sensors and can collect and transmit data to some server.
Software collect data from all terminals, visualise it and make reports and notices for you.
I can reccomend for you next vendor of software - http://gurtam.com/en/. It's hase English interface, based on web-servers, so you can rent it.
The closest place, where you can find t nice and cheep GPS terminals that can work with that software - it's China. The list of terminals you can find there.
